King, Martin Luther Jr (1929-68) Baptist minister; Civil Rights activist; Nobel Laureate. Announcement of a "Community Salute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Nobel Peace Prize Winner," Signed in black ink across the top, 4¼x5½" (New York City, 17 Dec. 1964). Fine. The salute took place in the 369th Regiment Armory at 142nd St. and Fifth Avenue. On December 10, 1964, Dr. King became the youngest man to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

Autograph Sentiment Signed, "Yours for God and Home and Native Land, (the motto of the Woman's National Christian Temperance Union), as president, on official letterhead, Chicago, IL, 24 Nov. 1888. To Mr. W.E. Mitchell. Fine. Willard supported women's suffrage and believed women could gain political power through the temperance crusade. Her statue is in the U.S. Capitol Building.
